Our Process
This is the basic process we follow; it is not special, there isn't a secret to it. There are other firms that use a very similar process, but it's the thinking and expertise we provide throughout the process that makes it work differently for us.
Discovery
This phase sets the direction for everything else. While this phase exists to help us understand who you are, it often helps our clients clearly define who they are and where they're going. Many times we go into this phase knowing that our clients will define themselves differently when we are finished. This change takes place when you honestly look at who you are and choose to be brave enough to embrace it.
You may think you just have a communication problem, but it may be rooted in a direction problem. We have a basic outline that this process follows, but a large amount of freedom is built in as we are never sure where this phase will lead.
Strategy
Developing a strategy for your brand identity is not something we do alone. This phase is done in a similar fashion to the Direction phase. We walk with you through the process, capture your input and point out where it isn't inline with the agreed upon Direction.
We don't sequester ourselves, and come up with a strategy and present it with a big reveal. Through discussions with you, and research into your industry and competition, a strategy reveals itself to us. This does not occur in a mystical way, but we're just good at seeing patterns and strategy where others don't. We discuss this strategy with you to ensure you feel it is something you believe in and can see your organization implementing.
Messaging
In the Messaging phase the brand identity begins to take shape. We begin to explore ways of communicating the strategy. These are things like, color palette, typography, logo, wording, and story telling. This is a fluid process with a lot of exploration. We need to be free to explore and discover the best way to communicate who you are and why you matter. Everything your organization does communicates a message, and it is important that we understand all those implications before developing any concrete implementations.
At the end of these three phases we will draft a brand brief that clearly states who you are and why you matter. This document gives clear direction to the implementation phase.
Implementation
Here we get into the nuts and bolts of designing and communicating your brand identity. Each piece has its own process that ensures it is the perfect fit for your needs. There are entire books written on the development of websites alone so I won't go into everything here. We deliver a complete brand identity solution that meets the stated goals of the strategy.
